Llamas handling
Taming Llamas
It is easier to learn how to domesticate llamas if we compare it to the way sheep are domesticated. Although they bear certain resemblance, what makes sheep different from llamas is their behaviour. Llamas are very intelligent animals. Their visual memory is more retentive in comparison with that of the sheep. The characteristic calmness of llamas also differs from the sheep. No rough movements or strange noises are needed to urge llamas to their farmyard. Just with walking or riding by their side, llamas know their way.
To face llamas, it is convenient to catch them from behind and seize them from their neck, trying to get their ears as soon as possible. Llamas paralyse when they are pulled by their ears and this makes taming easier. It is recommended to keep llamas near the house. They soon get accustomed to the usual moves of people around, gradually gaining further knowledge due to their great curiosity and interest.
